今早到大角咀郵政局拿郵品,再往旺角電腦中心買印表機用墨。下午如常參與國學講座肥力總是那麼準確,每當講者講完最後一句,就是我收到肥力短訊之時。回家整裝拿東西再往眾坊街巴黎咖啡店參加無邊吹水會,出席者六人。堵車堵極了,到達時已1715。我帶了表妹從布里斯班帶來nougat糖(珀斯原產)分享。談及傳銷、奇人奇事、李天命、扶乩、印度史詩摩訶婆羅多(Mahabharata)的中譯、俄狄浦斯王(King Oedipus)辜鴻銘、毛姆(William Somerset Maugham)論述辜鴻銘的作品"The Chinese Philosopher"(該文收入一本正中書局早年出版的《大學英文選》)等,六時散會。

肥力說我「雜學」,我可真的雜得可以。有人問我會不會背聖經,我說初信時真的背了不少聖經。有人說現在的學者不像以往的所謂「文藝復興人」那麼多才多藝,我說就是現在的人比較急功近利(或許我也是),不夠紮實,不怎麼願下死工夫。肥力早陣子談過「越南咖啡」,我本來想說現在的越南咖啡有即溶咖啡(instant coffee,也給了肥力兩包)的了。現代人工作生活那麼忙,喝不上真正要煮要熬的咖啡喝instant的也無不可。我有同事本來也喝咖啡現在也喝葡萄適了,我只能說有些東西可真的不能instant。
